Meet Our Team
At Matrice360, we are enthusiastic about evidence and evaluation. Our core team has expertise in research methods, project implementation and management, epidemiology, statistics, and causal inference. To supplement our in-house expertise, we have a rich network of qualified and experienced consultants in various fields that we pull from when and as needed.
Matrice360 is headed by our Executive Director, Mr. Samuel Olweny. Our advisory board includes a team of professors based at renowned universities in the US and UK. In addition to advising the firm’s management, these in-house Principle Investigators (PI) teams provide key technical support as and when needed for our research processes and development.
Below is a snapshot of our key Uganda Management team:
Samuel Olweny, Sam is the Executive Director (ED) of Matrice360, after more than a decade working at some of Uganda’s premier research organizations, Samuel set out to build his own research services company. With needs-based motivation from colleagues based at Universities in the US and colleagues in Uganda, Samuel started Matrice360 to provide an alternative supplier of high-quality yet cost-conscious research services in Uganda and East Africa. Samuel is a
passionate and professional researcher, project manager, leader, and father.
He has more than 15 years of work experience in professional Research and Project Management. Before Maytrice30, he worked for the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), the World Bank, and the Center for Evaluation and Development (C4ED) all in the areas of Research and Project Management.
Samuel holds 2 Master’s degrees in Development Management, and Management Studies, he has a Post Graduate Diploma in Monitoring & Evaluation and he is currently pursuing an online MicroMasters Degree in Data, Economics, and Development Policy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.x).
Simon Rubangakene, Simon is our Research Manager (RM); he has more than 15 years of professional rigorous work experience in International Development & Research, project coordination, operations, and management. He has a strong interest in the role of research, technology, and local innovations in development. Before joining Matrice360, Simon worked among others with BRAC USA, Agriworks Uganda & Columbia World Projects, Precision Development (PxD), Kenya and Uganda, and Innovations for Poverty Actions (IPA) in the positions of Research Manager, Assistant Research Manager, Senior Research Associate, and Field Manager respectively.
Simon holds a Master’s Degree in International Development, a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration & Management, and a MicroMasters Degree in Data, Economics, and Development Policy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.x). He has also undertaken an enhancement of short courses in Financial inclusion and Management, Social protection, Stata, R, Python, and GIS, and survey programming using Survey Open Data Kit (ODK)/SurveyCTO, Kobo Collect among others.
Ivan Sengendo, Ivan is our Data Manager (DM); he has more than 10 years of professional work experience in data programming and management. Before joining Matrice360, Ivan worked with the Compuscan credit reference bureau and Innovations for Poverty Actions (IPA) as a data administrator and Data Manager respectively.
Ivan holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Makerere University, Kampala, he additionally advanced in short courses especially Computer Programming among others; Python, Javascript, GIS, etc. Ivan is currently pursuing a MicroMasters Degree in Data, Economics, and Development Policy at M.I.T.x
He has advanced skills and experience in data management using Stata, R, Python GIS, and survey programming using Survey Open Data Kit (ODK)/SurveyCTO, Kobo Collect to mention.
